Wolves Season Ends in Second Round of Region 23 Tournament

The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to action hosting Jones in the Second Round of the Region 23 Men's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 1. The Bobcats beat the Wolves, 71-56, ending the 2022-23 season for the Wolves.

The Bobcats used a 13-8 scoring run over the opening minutes to hold a lead by that margin with 15:01 left in the first half. The Bobcats then used a 12-9 scoring run over the next few minutes to increase their lead to 25-17 with 8:54 remaining. The Wolves then closed the first half with a 12-10 scoring run to cut the Bobcats lead down to 35-29 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Bobcats opened the second half with a 14-7 scoring run to increase their lead to 49-36 15:05 left to play. The Wolves then responded with a 16-9 scoring run to cut the Bobcats lead down to 58-52 with 7:10 remaining. However, the Bobcats closed out the game with a 13-4 scoring run to secure win.

Sophomore guard Cowandric Samuel (Jackson) narrowly missed a double-double performance while leading the Wolves with 12 points and nine rebounds along with six assists while sophomore guard Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven) had 11 points with seven assists.

Freshman forward Dylan Canoville (Plantation, FL) had nine points and a team-leading 12 rebounds while sophomore guard Andrew Anderson (Hattiesburg) had eight points and sophomore forward Kaeden Laws (Southaven) had six points.

Freshman forwards Anterrian Hawkins (Hollandale) and Mike Smith (New Albany) had five and three points respectively, while sophomore forward AJ Warnsely (Byram) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin finishes the 2022-23 season with a 18-6 overall record and as the 2022-23 MACCC Conference Champions.
